Helensburgh flowers

As a wedding photographer I have the pleasure of working with many other highly-skilled vendors and Helensburgh Flowers are one of those that certainly fit this bill.

With over 10 years in the business of Floristry their team of designers oversee every step of the process from the initial consultation, to the creative design, and finally the delivery of the finished product. They are able to supply fresh cut, long-lasting floral arrangements throughout Scotland and even further afield, through affiliation with eflorist, seven days a week. Fully trained, enthusiastic and up-to-date in all the latest practices and contemporary designs ensures a first class service.

Like Fashion & Photography, Floristry is a constantly evolving art form and at Helensburgh Flowers they are always keen to explore new methods and different plant materials to give traditional styles and arrangements a modern and contemporary twist. Only the best and freshest materials, imported directly from Holland several times a week, ensure that their finished displays are both high quality and long lasting.

I was especially impressed with the gorgeous wedding floral designs they create and that they are certainly more than capable of holding their own in this market, evidenced by the wide range of regular clients they serve. Similar to myself, they provide a professional service but with a distinctly creative personal touch, with continuous support and guidance every step of the way.

Their experts can cater for any and every wedding, whether small, medium or large, and every aspect of the floral display from organising the table top decorations to preparing the church. Every detail, from the bride’s hand held bouquet, to the groom’s buttonhole, to traditional cascades or contemporary designs, can all be accommodated.

To find out more I went to speak with Denise Murphy the owner, to gain some further insights:

How did you get started in wedding floral design?
Denise: “My Grandmother had a large flower shop in Dublin and so from a young age I used to help her from home at weekends with the wedding sets. My father saw I had potential so at the age of thirteen, while still at school, he found me part-time work in a flower-shop in my home town. After meeting the ‘love of my life’ in Ireland he began work in Scotland so I moved over and started work as a florist in Helensburgh! I got the chance to open my own shop about fifteen years ago and the rest is history! ”

What would you say is your style and approach to wedding flowers?

Denise: “At Helensburgh Flowers we work as a team and alongside clients, as part of a process which involves bouncing ideas off each other, in a creative environment.  Ideas are then selected on merit! A big part of this process is to understand the bride’s style which is usually gauged at initial consultation.”

Who is your ideal client?
Denise: “Someone who truly loves and appreciates flowers and sees the value and art of the trade! It’s also more ideal when we receive our clients’ trust, as we want to do our best for all of our couples, and we really thrive when given a free reign to do so!”

What has been your favourite moment so far in floristry?
Denise: “I love all wedding projects but I particularly enjoyed my cousin’s wedding as the whole family were there to appreciate our designs and the occasion!”

Why do you think it’s important for a bride to hire a professional floral designer for their wedding day decor?

Denise: “It’s my belief that weddings and flowers go hand in hand. At Helensburgh Flowers you’re paying for a team of professionals who are passionate about what they do. If we can translate this passion to our designs then we feel that we are worth every penny. Flowers have to be designed In the final days before the big day, so leaving that to the pros is invaluable, as the last thing anyone has time for is the planning that flowers demand (ordering, purchasing, retrieving, caring for, designing, storing, maintaining, delivering, setting up, and cleaning up)! If you want your flowers to look like they do in the magazine photographs, hiring a team of pros will get you there!”
